Vettel Takes the Lead from Jenson

Jenson is one of the few drivers who is not consistently in those horrid Oakleys. He is most often seen in the paddock in a pair of aviators, and he has been sporting them for a long long time:

So imagine my surprise when I saw this photo of Vettel in these Ray Bans:

hmm… interesting, right? Vettel rarely wears aviators. The inner snark in me said: So who does he think he is? Jenson?

hohoho. It’s not a bad look, certainly more flattering than those Oakleys. 😉

P.S. I’m back! Sorry it took awhile, I was kind of embarrassed by the long absence from blogging… and it was also hard to decide what to write about finally. -___-;

Malaysian GP Grid Position Winners and Losers

So… what is the grid position “winners and losers”? I have alluded to the little game I play whilst watching a F1 race a few times on the blog. I’m pretty sure it is well understood. But for those who haven’t read those posts, a pictorial explanation is much easier (and funnier). Those that follow me on twitter may recall a rather bold statement where I claimed I would revolutionize the way my followers watch F1. So let’s get to it, eh?

The grid positions for each race is always divided up in groups of four. While they flash by on the screen, simply pick a “winner” and “loser” from each grouping. The sole factor for defining the “winner” and “loser” is the DRIVER PHOTO. This is a looks and photogenicity contest! Now, sometimes this is rather hard to decide because there may be more than one unattractive photo! Remember to play with your friends, it’s more fun that way. 😉

Without further ado, here are the Winners and Losers of the Malaysian GP:

Winner: Hamilton
Loser: Button

Winner: Heidfeld
Loser: Massa

Winner: Rosberg
Loser: Buemi

Winner: Alguersari
Loser: Barichello

Winner: Kovalainen
Loser: Trulli

Winner: Glock
Loser: Karthikeyan

Wasn’t that fun? Will you be playing this game next week for the Shanghai Grand Prix? Do tell… 😉

P.S. I do need a better jester icon. Hopefully by Shanghai I will do a better job of this. 😉

Mercedes Shoe Battle

Last year, Rosberg’s beige loafers became a bit ahem… infamous. Like any guy who cares about his appearance, Roseberg does have alternatives to his beloved beige loafers. Interestingly enough, Schumacher was seen in Malaysia with a similar pair of shoes. So the question is… do you prefer Rosberg’s shoes. Or perhaps the King? 😉

Malaysian Grid Girl Uniform Gets Updated…

Well… barely.

In case you forgot, here is a photo of the 2010 uniform:

2011’s uniform is equally modest. I’m glad they got rid of the jersey cardigan that was accented with grandma’s lace doilies. They also got rid of grandma’s strappy sandals, which was an excellent choice.

However, it appears that Nando has noticed that the new shoes are just as hideous… a wide white platform wedge. Let’s examine them more closely:

I found an even “better” photo showcasing these shoes:

They’re a bit dated, no? It reminds me of the 90’s… and not in a good way.

The cropped jacket actually had potential to be cute… but the ribbon accents end up making the whole thing look gimmicky. In fact… the whole thing looks a little bit like an airline stewardess … or maybe even Gundam?

Perhaps the designer was influenced by Gundam… even Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy haute couture collection last year drew inspiration from Gundam. 😉

Uncreative Malaysian Grid Girls

Sorry I lied in my previous post. This post is actually about a subject very dear to my heart… makeup! While the Malaysian grid girls were cute (as are most grid girls)… I do have to say they were really REALLY uncreative with their makeup. How so?

Well, their uniform consisted of an emerald green skirt with white flowers. Because of this, many girls must have thought it would be just fabulous to match their eyeshadow to their skirt. Matching eye makeup to an outfit isn’t necessarily bad… but it is kind of an obvious thing to do. It sort of screams “Heeey look at me, I MATCH! Isn’t it swell?”

I would have preferred to see contrasting or complementary colors instead since green is sort of a neutral color. Pink, yellow, various shades of blue, purple… all of those would have looked wonderfully fresh and cute. Even orange would be all right, but there’s the risk of looking a little Force India there. But noooo… tons of girls chose green. How boring.

Step Brothers

At first glance I thought “What the hell happened to the Ferrari shirt? What’s with the weird white panels?” Then I realized a vest was layered on top of the shirt. I wonder if step brothers Alonso/Massa are wearing a cooling type of vest. When I was watching F1 last year, I could not get over the ugly cooling vests that many drivers wore. But I guess leave it to Ferrari to produce a cooling vest in their own livery (well, assuming this vest is a cooling vest)? I don’t really think the Ferrari one looks that much better, and it doesn’t look like Alonso thinks so either. I’m also amused that Massa does not look constipated for once. Maybe the sunglasses are disguising the fact? 😉
