Oh, isn’t that cute? Vettel was matchy matchy with his girlfriend~~~ They were both wearing parkas and white tops (although Vettel’s looks a little sweater-like). Vettel was also wearing a verrry familiar looking scarf. While I don’t track driver stats per se, I do tend to track their accessories.
So where have I seen this scarf before?
On Wolfman in Spa 2010, that’s where:
Perhaps Wolfman gave it to Vettel as a parting gift? Or maybe Vettel is just copping Wolfman’s style? Or is it Red Bull team gear? Who knows.
edit: It is in fact Red Bull team gear! Check out this photo I found of Vergne. If you enlarge it, the Red Bull logo can be seen. This is a rather clever graphic design isn’t it? Despite my hate for logos, I rather like this take on a geometric pattern…
Naturally the next question is, where can Red Bull fans get this scarf? I’m not sure, but the flagship store in Austria would be my best bet.
How sweet~ Nothing like a F1 bromance to get the fans excited eh? So the question that comes to mind is: Is Vettel whispering sweet nothings in DC’s ear? Or is he going in for the kill?
DC is looking like he’s enjoying this a lil too much though. =X
Just kidding. I couldn’t resist… after all I read a lot of manga.
Those that read this blog are already aware that one of my “favorite” topics are the ugly sunglasses. Though I did not declare a winner in 2010, we do know who the repeat offenders are, don’t we?
I have also noticed an alarming number of ugly sunglasses whilst watching the Tour de France (TdF). It seems that the Ugly Sunglasses of Choice for F1 drivers and TdF cyclists is OAKLEY. I thought about it for a little while and it occurred to me that the F1 boys and TdF boys need to have a battle… for the ugliest sunglasses.
Yes that’s right. I have assembled photos for your viewing “pleasure.” Only photos from the 2011 season count. If I have missed a particularly horrendous photo, please drop me a line via twitter, email, or comment. Though I am not fond of them, I am excluding the yellow shades from “The Yellow Shades Project” because I don’t think it’s appropriate. This will be a picture heavy post… you’ve been warned.
Since this is a F1 blog, let’s start with our beloved F1 boys:
Now it’s time for the Tour de France boys. Sadly, I don’t know all of the cyclists’ names since I am not really into cycling. Please enlighten me if you happen to know:
The Schlecks seem enamored with Oakleys with clear lenses…
World champion Thor Hushovd has an arsenal of ugly sunglasses:
Oh. My. Eyes. They hurt. Do yours?
So what do you think? Compared to the cyclists… the F1 boys aren’t so bad, right? No matter who wins the Tour de France… they have already beaten the very best F1 drivers in one thing: The Ugly Sunglasses Battle.
Did you know that Oakley sunglasses are customizable? The lens and frames colorways can be chosen by the customer. For example, this combination is possible: top half neon green, bottom half (left side) white, bottom half (right side) black.
That is probably one reason why there are some seriously ugly Oakley sunglasses worn in the F1 and TdF world. Remember: just because you can, doesn’t mean you should!
If you are going to customize a pair of Oakley sunglasses, please use these photos as examples of what not to do.
P.S. Photo credit: TdF photos were from cyclingtipsblog.com
Has anyone noticed Lee McKenzie’s necklines when she interviews various drivers? I have observed that Lee tends to wear lower cut tops when interviewing younger drivers. I doesn’t happen quite so often on the track. It tends to happen during the staged interviews that are on location (drivers’ homes, parks, whatever etc). Basically Lee’s casual wear choices tend to be lower cut during segments with younger drivers.
Some may be thinking “Oh come on now, thepitwalk’s really crazy now! It’s just a coincidence!” Perhaps, but Lee herself has stated that at times she takes advantage of her femininity. She is quite pretty, don’t get me wrong now. I just find it hilarious that it seems to happen quite frequently during interactions with younger drivers.
Now now… it wouldn’t be thepitwalk without some evidence, so I have prepared some screenshots from the Shanghai GP, complete with dialog. Do enjoy.
Lee McKenzie interviews Nick Heidfeld, a reasonably attractive driver… albeit one of the older set…
Now, please make a direct comparison with Article #2: On the same day, Lee McKenzie also interviews Sebastian Vettel, who happens to be a hot* young driver of the moment.
* disclaimer: I do not find him “hot” but many do, so there it is.
Perhaps I haven’t won my case today… but worry not… there will be future articles to add to the evidence pile. I am sure of it.
P.S. All in fun. Lee is a good journalist, don’t kill me ok. T_T
Petrov and Vettel were both spotted jogging around the track recently. So of course… the natural way my brain works is:
Whose outfit do you prefer? When it comes down to it, I suppose the real question is whether you prefer Petrov’s tighter workout pants or Vettel’s track pants. =X
As far as posture goes, Petrov seems to have slightly better posture and a smile. Perhaps Petrov really is trying to be a Top Model of F1 this year?
